This series consists of a single bound volume which documents the civil complaints filed in this court for the inclusive dates listed below. Information presented in this volume includes: (1) names of attorneys (2) case number (3) names of litigants (4) type of charges complained of (5) disposition of case (6) date and term of court (7) remarks (often not given).

This series consists of ledgers containing the parties in litigation, amount of judgement plus interest and court costs, and date judgement was satisfied.

Poor schools were early school systems set up by the county to educate the children of citizens unable to send their children to private schools. In 1837, the General Assembly provided for Commissioners of the Common School in Cobb County, and in 1859 county boards of education were created. This series consists of minutes of the actions and decisions of the county Poor School Commissioners.

This series consists of volumes recording the children and their parents for each school.

This series contains a book in which the Commission noted funds appropriated for the poor schools and how they were expended.

This series contains bound miscellaneous estate bonds including administrators' bonds, guardians' bonds, masters' bonds, temporary administrators' bonds, and bonds of indemnity by heirs.

An estray is a domestic animal which has strayed away from its owner's custody. When a freeholder takes up any estray domestic animal he is required to file with the court of ordinary an appraisement and description of the animal, and an affidavit that his statements are correct. This series contains the person's name and a description of the animal in question and the date registered.

Homestead laws provided for the exemption of a certain amount of property, both realty and personalty, and of certain tools from levy and sale for debt. The exemptions were obtained in the court of ordinary. The records give information as to the name of the petitioner, the size of his family, size and shape of his real property confirmed by the county surveyor by a plat of survey, and a schedule of personal property desired to be exempted.

This series contains name of party registering to sell spirituous liquor, place of business, date of registration and date of notification of collector.

Pauper applications give information about the individuals and often describe the unusual circumstances that rendered them indigent. Other records for paupers show fund disbursements such as funeral payments and medical expenses, or when the pauper changed his residence.

This series contains the oaths of retailers of spirituous liquors stating that they will not sell any liquors to slaves or free persons of color without the consent of the owners or employers. After the Civil War the oaths pertain to the prohibition of the sale of liquors to minors both white and Colored (African American, Black).

The Inferior Court was a common law court established in each county by the Georgia Constitution of 1789 which handled petty civil and criminal cases. These books are the County Treasurer's records certifying to the Inferior Court that fees were paid into the county treasury for such things as: 1) licenses for the sale of spirituous liquors; 2) fines for failure to perform repair work on roads; 3) taxes, and 4) retail licenses.

Georgia's first constitution of 1777 established a general trial court in each of the state's eight counties to be known as a "superior court" (in contrast to the limited jurisdiction of inferior courts). Presently, the superior courts are the state's highest ranking courts with original and general jurisdiction. The records of this series show the names of jurors arranged chronologically by term.

The clerk of the superior court was mandated to maintain a list of registered voters. This list served as a pool for potential jurors. This series contains lists that indicate:(1) name of registered voters; (2) race; (3) address (usually not listed); (4) age, and (5) occupation.
