John Word West papers
Series 1: John Word West personal papers, 1897-1958
West's school records, contracts from his early teaching career, compositions, and a small amount of non-business correspondence make up this first series.
Series 2: John Word West family papers, 1870-1959
Series 3: John Word West business papers, 1908-1957
These records are of West's non-professional, non-teaching life, including farming, store-keeping, money-lending, and lumber purchasing. One letter is by Corra Harris (1929), the Georgia author. Arranged alphabetically by the name of the correspondent, thereunder chronologically.;filed at end of series.

Series 5: "The Fair of 1850" and "Westville, GA" records, 1891-1976
Correspondence, news clippings, artifacts, a guestbook, West's composition on 19th century Georgia life, scholarly papers presented at a Westville symposium, various publications, and the budget for Westville Historic Handcrafts, Inc., in the 1970's are all included. Contains letters from the Uncle Remus Memorial Association and Stewart County material.
Series 6: Photographs, 1860-1960
Originals and copies, ranging from tintypes to snapshots, document the West family in general and J.W. West's entire career from schooldays through the Fair of 1850 in Clayton, Fulton, and Lumpkin Counties, GA. Subjects include agriculture, farm life, rural land use, artisans, cemeteries, children, gold mines, and the Fair. Arranged chronologically within each organization's records.
