Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series consists of documents created between 1973 and 1977 which record the efforts made by the Educational Programs Section of the Archives in creating traveling exhibits to help celebrate the 200th Birthday of the United States of America. Specifically, a sampling of the projects contained in the 1.5 cubic feet of records reveals (1) initial copy written for the various exhibits or projects, (2) photo layout work, (3) correspondence requesting permission to reprint various sections of publications, (4) instructions detailing the assembly of the different exhibit pieces, (5) bibliographies on all exhibit research work, (6) financial statements and (7) correspondence on grants and matching funds. The Educational Programs Section is responsible for coordinating public relations activities of the Department of Archives and History. Part of this involves the preparation of exhibits. During the National Bicentennial in 1976, the Section played a key role in providing Georgians a well educated "look back" at the role their state has had in shaping our heritage.
