Scope and Contents
This series consists of original and photocopied material documenting the various minutes of the Department of Air Transportation in its early formative years. Created by Georgia Law 1968, page 130, sub-section 1, the mission of the State Department of Air Transportation (DAT) is to: (1) schedule and provide Executive air transportation (2) manage all State aircraft (3) maintain all State aircraft (4) have the exclusive procurement of all state aircraft to include purchase, lease, rental, charter or sale of State-owned aircraft (5) employ all persons whose official duties consist of piloting State owned aircraft (6) determine charges for use of State aircraft (7) bill the using department or agency for aircraft use (8) establish priorities for the use of State aircraft. Topics included in the minutes consist of (1) nominations for key spots on the board (2) determination on which airport to use for maintenenace and storage of State Aircraft (3) recommendations on purchasing or trading of State Aircraft (4) presentation of the department's operating procedures (5) rates to charge the various agencies for use of the planes, etc.
