STATE PROPERTY CONTROL COMMISSION - WESTERN AND ATLANTIC RAILROAD - RIGHTS OF WAY PROPERTY LEASE DEEDS - 1841 - 1972 - Deeds #1 through 30
Scope and Contents
This series consists of bound and unbound original and copied deed records to the right of way and property on the right of way leased to the Western & Atlantic Railroad. The bound records consist of two volumes, one volume containing the copied abstracts of property belonging to the State of Georgia in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This volume is in no particular arrangement. At the end of the volume is a direct and reverse index to several of the abstracts contained within. The other volume contains written entries recording the deeds to the right of way as recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Superior Court for the particular county where the property is located. This volume also contains a small, unattached inventory of deeds and, in later years, recorded contracts, indentures and several maps showing right of way. The entries are arranged chronologically. The unbound original deeds are of property on the right of way and have been placed separately in folders. Each deed has been given a number and the folders are thus arranged numerically by deed number or in line order beginning with Mile Post Zero in Atlanta.
