Scope and Contents

The purpose of the Policy and Procedure Manual is to insure that tollroad locations and designs are consistent with local, state, and federal goals as defined in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. The series established guidelines for public hearings, environmental analysis requirements, and procedures for historic preservation in connection with the construction of a tollroad system in Georgia. Location and design stage flow charts and an appendix are included.

Scope and Contents

This series contains correspondence, studies, reports, contracts, maps, engineering data and other records which document all phases of the coordination, administration and supervision of the financing, implementation and operation of toll roads in Georgia. It is significant that a large portion of the records in this series document the work of various consulting firms engaged by the Division to study the feasibility of constructing toll roads in the State.

Scope and Contents Included in this series are transcripts of public hearings from the Tollway Section of the Department of Transportation. The purpose of the hearings was to provide communication between the Tollway Section and the public in regards to proposed tollways. The transcript of each hearing has appendices that include maps, drawings, aerial photographs, newspaper clippings, and correspondence.
