Environmental Protection Division - Director's Office - Director's Subject Files
Scope and Contents
This series contains: (1) minutes of committee and organizational meetings, (2) correspondence, (3) transcripts of speeches and statements, (4) material to be used in speeches, (5) outlines for environmental protection programs, (6) budget data, (7) data on the environmental impact of specific state projects, (8) copies of pertinent legislation both federal and state, (9) reorganization data, (10) mailing lists, and (11) lists of meetings attended. These records document the administration of the Environmental Protection Division and its predecessor organization, the State Water Quality Control Board, prior to the Georgia government reorganization of 1972. There is a definite emphasis apparent in these files on the public relations aspects of the Director's role and relatively little on the day-to-day administration of the Division. For example, there are many files containing papers pertaining to meetings of environmental protection groups like the Group of 10 and delivering speeches and issuing statements before gatherings of various types. Please see also RGSGSERIES 88-8-13, State Water Quality Control Board Executive Secretary's Subject Files, of the Water Quality Control Board.
