Scope and Contents
This series contains: (1) soil borings, (2) geological survey information, (3) location maps, (4) permit forms, (5) design and operational plans, and (6) correspondence collected by the Permit Review Unit of the Land Protection Branch. A soil boring is a process of finding a suitable location for landfill facilities. Permit forms are essential in setting up a landfill and consist of the following: (1) type of landfill, (2) official name for responsibility, (3) property owner, (4) amount of acreage involved, (5) population served, (6) soils and water table determination, and (7) name, title, address, date and phone number of person applying for the permit. Design and operational plans are layouts of the land shown on a topographical map. This map shows access roads, equipment shelters, drainage system for the land, protective covering required under State and Federal regulations and the grade or slope of the land. The forms pertain to three categories of operations: (1) sanitary landfills, (2) regular landfills, and (3) refuse collection companies.
