Scope and Contents
This Series Contains: General orders, correspondence between the adjutant gcncral and the National Guard Bureau; Reports of inspection for federal recognition; certificates of federal recognition selected special orders; and reports of national guard duty performed, which relate to each individual unit in the Georgia Army and Air National Guard from the reorganization of the National Guard following the end of World War II. Selected files contain the official statements of lineage and battle honors of the various units of the Army and Air National Guard which details the history of these units, some extending to the colonial period. It should be noted, however, that no genealogical information exists within these files. In the absence of the general order books, these files can be used to reconstruct the General Orders published by the adjutant general from 1946- 1962. Some files contain the report of inspection for federal recognition which contain a roster of all personnel assigned to the unit.
