This series contains: (1) permits, (2) correspondence, (3) maps, (4) slides, (5) applications for licenses, (6) trip, investigation, inspection, laboratory and reclamation reports, (7) memorandums, (8) bonding data, (9) amendments, (10) legal notices, (11) blueprints, (12) location data sheets, (13) newspaper clippings and other records documenting every mining company's plan to reclaim lands affected by surface mining operations. Consequently, this series documents the administration of the Georgia Surface Mining Act of 1968 which empowered the Surface Mined Land Reclamation Program to enforce its provisions.
