Scope and Contents

This series contains all documents relating to individual cases heard by the Georgia Supreme Court from its creation in 1846 to 1917. A typical file might include any or all the following documents: (1) bills of exception, (2) writs of certiorari or error, (3) summons and (4) lower court documents presented to the Supreme Court as evidence. Those documents include full or partial transcripts of proceedings, complaints, judgments and other related documents. There are very few transcripts for early trials.
