Supreme Court - Clerk of Court - Habeas Corpus Writs, Death Penalty Cases
Scope and Contents
This series formerly consisted of Applications to Appeal until they were purged of the writs of habeas corpus in 1994. The writs are for death penalty cases only and are those that were indirectly appealed to the Court. Before 1974, cases were directly appealed to the Supreme Court and are part of the appeal case. After 1974, cases were indirectly appealed or separated out into Applications to Appeal. For real information into a death case appeal, one must see the case as it is filed in the federal court.
