Scope and Contents
These subject files are divided into three distinct divisions. The first includes documents found in most administrative subject files including (1) original inquiries directed to and copies of replies from the Director and his executive staff, (2) memorandums to and from the Governor and other State officials, (3) directives, (4) manuals, (5) bulletins establishing policies and procedures, (6) projects, (7) studies, (8) reports proposed and executed by the executive staff, (9) speeches and (10) supporting correspondence. These files are arranged by subject but not alphabetically. The second part consists of the Governor's weekly briefing notebooks by which the Governor was kept informed of the proposals and decisions of the Office of Planning and Budget. the governor's recommendations and other comments are often to be found on the pages of the notebooks. Items are arranged chronologically by date. The last part consists of the Director's copies of budget files containing working papers for each State agency's budget and copies of appropriation bills. These files are arranged by fiscal year and then alphabetically by agency. The order in which these three parts appear varies from one fiscal year to another.
