Human Resources - Special Administrative Service - Factory for the Blind Administrative Support File
Scope and Contents
These are the administrative support files for the Factory for the Blind. Originally, these records were created in the office of the Deputy State Director, Department of Family and Children Services. After the departmental reorganization in 1972, the supervision of the Factory was transferred to Vocational Rehabilitation, Record Group 75; and the Office of Special Administrative Services, legal counsel for the Commissioner, provided liaison with the Attorney General. The Factory had three locations: Atlanta, Griffin, and Bainbridge. the records include information on the financial condition of the plants, complaints, the Governor's interest in the Factory, and relations with the National Industries for the Blind and the Georgia Federation of the Blind.
