Office of Planning and Budget - Planning Division - Special Project Files
Scope and Contents
This series contains project proposals, studies accompanied by the working papers including maps, charts, graphs, etc. and memorandums to and from the Governor and other state and federal officials. The projects and studies deal with such subject areas as health, education and welfare and are undertaken in an effort to identify Georgia's long and short-range needs in these areas and to coordinate governmental efforts at all levels to meet these needs. Among the records of particular interest in this series are the maps indicating county by county statistical studies on such subjects as health care facilities, population density and school dropout rate. Also sometimes included are copies of a governor's speeches on various key issues.
For an overview of the efforts of the Planning Division and all others in the Department, see Sub-Group 1, Series 8, Director's Subject Files. Also see the project files of the various regional commissions listed under their respective subgroups in Record Group 93. Finally, see the studies done under the auspices of the various Area Planning and Development Commissions In Georgia. For these studies, see Record Group 66, Division of Community Affairs, Sub-Group 4, Series 4, Planning Studies.
