Scope and Contents
This series consists of bound reports (on the average 36 pages) which proclaim the accomplishments of the Fisheries Section of the Department of Natural Resources for the past fiscal year. Topics found in the table of contents (which have changed very little over an eight year period) include: 1) Introduction 2) Private Waters Management 3) Public Waters Management (Fishing Laws and Regulations, Pollution & Fish Kill Investigations, Fish Surveys, Aquatic Plant Control, Boat Ramp Program, Management and Development, Technical Assistance to Other Agencies, Environmental Reviews and Assessments, Information, Education and Training, Other Activities 4) Trout Production 5) Warm Water Hatcheries 6) Public Fishing Areas 7) Research and Surveys and 8) Hatchery, Renovation and Facility Improvements. The role of the Fisheries Section of the Game and Fish Division is to preserve, enhance, and provide for the well-being of the freshwater fishing resources of Georgia. To accomplish this goal, the Fisheries Section operates a number of programs including private waters management, public waters management, trout production and stocking, warm water hatchery production, operation of public fishing areas and research and surveys.
