This series consists of transcriptions of deeds and mortgages showing land transactions that were recorded in the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court. Types of deeds may be: (1) fi fa (sheriff's); (2) administrator; (3) quit claim; (4) guardian; (5) probate; (6) security; and (7) trust. In some cases, deeds to slaves may be recorded. Information recorded includes: (1) date of instrument; (2) contracting parties; (3) purchase price; (4) legal description of property; (5) county; (6) signatures, and (7) date of recording. Originals for 1860 - 1864 are in the Franklin County Superior Court.
