This series is composed of bound volumes of recorded promissory notes and indentures which document the mortgages filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented includes: (1) names of mortgagors and mortgagees (2) dates transaction was agreed to; (3) an enumeration of the amounts of money and interest involved; (4) a description of the properties so mortgaged; (5) names of the clerks and witnesses who recorded the mortgages, (6) the dates mortgages were recorded. Some of mortgages have a cancellation statement written across their face and most of the properties so mortgaged are personal property such as farm animals and equipment, furniture and crops. The indexes, in which the mortgagors and mortgagees are listed in alphabetical order by the initial letter of their surname, are found in RGSGSERIES 159 - 1 - 44, but a few volumes in this series have an individual index.
