This series is composed of bound volumes which document the civil and criminal complaints filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed below. The volumes also include Grand Jury presentments which deal with county business matters. Information presented in these volumes relating to civil and criminal complaints includes: (1) date and term of court; (2) names of litigants; (3) type of charge in the complaint, and (4) judgement rendered. Some of the civil complaints include libel for divorce, petition for relief and petition to foreclose mortgage. Charges complained of in criminal cases include those of assault and battery, gambling and seduction. The volumes include presentments by the Grand Jury and the members of the Grand and Traverse Jury. These presentments include: (1) orders to county officials to make capital improvements in county property such as building a new jail or repairing a specific bridge; (2) issuing a report concerning the condition of county institutions such as the Pauper Home and County Jail; (3) recommending certain individuals be appointed to certain minor county offices such as Notary Public, and (4) recommendations to the court that bills of indictment be pressed against certain individuals for certain specific crimes.
