Franklin County - Probate Court - Inferior Court Case Files
Scope and Contents
The Inferior Court, a common law court, was established in each county by the Georgia Constitution of 1798. The court had a dual function, to administer probate and hear minor cases, and when sitting for county purposes, to conduct county business. A constitutional amendment of 1852 provided for a separate court of ordinary for each county which took on the inferior court's probate functions. This series of unbound records consists of: (1) Assumpsits; (2) attachments; (3) affidavits (4) fi fas; (5) judgements, and (6) complaints.
