Scope and Contents

(See Record Group 26-10-110 for a brief legislative history of the School.) Gracewood is administered by the Hospital Services Section of the Mental Health Division and is currently organized by divisions as follows :(1) The Administration Division includes the Superintendent's Office, the Business Management Department, the Personnel Department and Public Relations; (2) The Cottage Life Division manages the 1,200 mental retardates living in the 25 cottages and includes the sections of Programs, Recreational Therapy, Cottage Activity and Training of the Profoundly Retarded; (3) The Nursing Division includes Nursing Education; (4) Training and Recreation include Vocational Therapy, Speech and Hearing Training and Recreational Activities;(5) Community Resources and Services Division includes working with outpatients and their families to train them to cope with retardation and public relational activities; (6) The Professional Services Division includes the departments of Medical Care, Dental, Psychology, Religious Services, Volunteer Services and Vocational Rehabilitation Units and (7) Plant Operations Division includes maintenance of the buildings and the farm area. These annual reports are divided into the above named organizational divisions and departments or sections and gives an account of each one's activities for the past year and plans for future years.
