Bulloch County - Justice of the Peace Court - Criminal Dockets
Scope and Contents
Criminal dockets are used by the Justice and Superior Courts to document criminal complaints filed by the state in the Justice Court and the judgment resulting from such complaints. The information each volume provides includes: (1) Georgia Militia District name or number of court; (2) names of defendants; (3) names of person by whom warrant was issued and date of issue; (4) type of offense charged; (5) name of prosecutor (often not given); (6) Justice's cost enumerated, and (7) date set for trial (very seldom given). Most of the cases involved relatively minor complaints such as burglary, stabbing and passing worthless checks.
