Industry and Trade - Public Works Panel - Cities and Counties Public Improvements Surveys
Scope and Contents
These are published series of Public Works Studies (Nos. 1-14), each covering three or more contiguous counties and their principal cities and towns. These surveys were prepared by the Public Works Panel of the Georgia Agricultural and Industrial Development Board (the forerunner of the Department of Industry and Trade) in collaboration with the counties and cities involved. For each county or city there is a financial statement that summarizes receipts and expenditures of the government for the previous five years and includes a short narrative analysis. This is followed by a chart that outlines proposed expenditures for public works such as improvements of the water system, pavement of the streets and sidewalks, construction of drainage and sewage systems, erection of public buildings and the like. These proposals are projected five or more years into the future. In some instances, the proposals include plans for school systems. Not all counties are included.
