Western and Atlantic Railroad - Auditor - Station Agents Monthly Balances
Scope and Contents
This series consists of unbound "account-current" records kept on the various individual station agents by the General Bookkeeper of the Auditor's Office. The forms contain: both debit and credit columns, date, transactions, amounts, and totals under each. At the bottom of each form is the agent's signature following a statement that the foregoing account is accurate. These forms show the total indebtedness of the various agents to the Western and Atlantic, for they were held accountable for all paid and unpaid freight charges and the like received to and from stations on the W & A and other railroads.
