Constitutional Revision Commission - 1969 Commission - General Assembly Resolutions
Scope and Contents
This series contains copies of several Georgia House and Senate resolutions which created the 1969 Constitution Revision Commission or implemented phases of the proposed Constitution composed by that body. House Resolution Three proposed the new Constitution and presented it to the people for ratification or rejection in the 1970 general election. It further fixed an effective date in the event the Constitution was ratified. Among the versions of this resolution are the interim copy, the Judiciary Committee substitute and a compilation of changes to the substitute specifically dealing with the section covering the findings and recommendations of the Constitution Revision Commission. House Resolution 129-341 proposed virtually the same ideas as did HR 3 using almost identical wording. House Resolution 514-1028 also contained the same provisions as its two predecessors. Contained herein are the drafts of the resolution as it passed the House of Representatives and a large collection of amendments thereto. Senate Resolution Ten created the 1969 Constitution Revision Commission and outlined the reasons for its creation and its duties. For the official legislative copies of these resolutions, see RGSGSERIES 37/1/1, Bills and Resolutions of the General Assembly. These copies will indicate all signatures of the sponsors and the dates of the readings.
