Scope and Contents
This series is composed of several distinct subseries of records relating to several different administrations of the Dept. of Mines, Mining and Geology, including those of: W.S. Yeakes, S.W. McCallie, R.W. Smith, all three State Geologists, and Garland Peyton, Director of the Department. The papers are correspondence relating to the St. Louis World's Fair and the Century of Progress International Exposition; records of the Commission of Forestry and Geological Development, 1931 - 1937; and annual meeting papers of the Interstate Oil Compact Commission, 1946 - 1961. There are also reports and maps of state stream gaging and droughts, 1937 - 1960, and personnel applications, most from 1914 - 1929. Additional records pertaining to the office of the State Geologist and the general functioning of the Department of Mines, Mining and Geology may be found in RGSGSERIES 50-1-6, Correspondence of the State Geologist and RGSGSERIES 50-1-25, Letterbooks of the State Geologist.
