Scope and Contents
These are published annual reports to the Governor from the Chancellor of the University System, presented in both prose and statistical form, containing information on the structure, policy, and major aspects of the work of the System, including: 1. Changes in Board membership, officers and staff, and changes in institutional presidencies. 2. Faculties - Information on morale, teaching load, number of faculty, ranks and average salary of faculty, and faculty turnover. 3. Students -- Information on enrollment (broken down by institution, class year, resident and non-resident, etc.), number of graduates, and programs for students (testing and guidance, financial aid and scholarships, and extracurricular activities). 4. Instructional Programs - Listings of and summaries of changes in degrees and curricula, descriptions of academic and research programs, number of libraries and description of library facilities and holdings, and public services which include non-credit instructional programs for the general public and cooperative programs with public groups and various State agencies, including the Marine Resources Program. 5. Finances - Sources of income, expenditures, allocation of State funds (including allocation per institution and per student), summary of educational and general income, and percentages of expenditures for various purposes (general, administrative, student welfare, plant operations, library, and instruction). This information would be outlined in greater detail in Treasurer's Report. 6. Gifts and Grants - Summary and listing by institution of gifts, grants and commitments for future gifts and grants, broken down by category (scholarships, fellowships, educational and general purposes, departmental use, endowment and loan funds, for land and physical improvements, for supplementing faculty salaries, etc.) 7. Physical Plants - (a) Listing of institutions and classification of each as to status (university, senior college, junior college, and residential university, senior college and junior college). (b) Summary of construction, including new buildings completed, their location and cost; buildings under construction and estimated cost; buildings in planning stage and estimated cost; expansions in physical plants and cost; and summary of buildings constructed, under construction, or otherwise acquired; repair and rehabilitation expenses; and cost of land acquisitions. 8. Needs (Recommendations) -- Summary of recommendations relating primarily to finances, but also including any other aspect of overall operation (consolidation of schools, designation of academic year and fiscal year, etc.). These recommendations would be outlined in greater detail in the Budget Requests.
