University System - Board of Regents - Teacher Supply and Demand Survey
Scope and Contents
This series consists of printed surveys conducted by the University System of Georgia and the Georgia State Department of Education to determine teacher supply and demand in the state's public school system. The material in this series has administrative value for University System and local public school officials responsible for determining educational appropriations and professional teachers' training, qualifications, and placement. The survey included the individual elementary, junior high, and high schools in each Georgia county. Also included in the series are similar surveys for twenty nine colleges and universities in Georgia. Data consistently given in the surveys for each public school includes: (1) teaching assignments (according to subject area, certification, and personnel needs); (2) level of certification (provisional or professional) and source of professional training (type of degree and where earned); (3) information on teacher turnover (reasons for leaving teaching or changing positions). The college and university survey forms contain information on the rank of the faculty, professional training of the faculty, and the present or projected number of teacher education graduates from the institution.
