This series consists of photocopied reports in various types of binders. This material includes copies of the affirmative action plans which the institutions in the University System issued in 1976 and thereafter. In addition, some documents relating to the Regents' statewide desegregation plan are subsumed within this series. The Affirmative Action Office of the Board of Regents acts as a liaison with federal and state investigative agencies, and it monitors equal employment matters. This series documents the function of the Affirmative Action Office to assist each institution to develop affirmative action plans, to review those plans, and to construct the overall plan for the system. Although the order of topics varies, the affirmative action plans of the individual institutions generally contain the following major sections: 1) Policy Statement 2) Responsibility for Dissemination and Implementation 3) Equal Educational Opportunity 4) Equal Employment Opportunity 5) Utilization Analysis and 6) Work Force Analysis. Most plans also include (usually in appendices) sample forms, organization charts, and a large number of tables. These plans provide detailed descriptions of the student admissions and the hiring and personnel policies as well as statistical summaries of the various categories of employees and students at each of the institutions of the University System. The plans from state colleges and universities are the primary focus of this series, but it also encompasses material on the system's desegregation plan such as reports, correspondence, and court decisions. The federal Office for Civil Rights has duplicate copies of the items in this series.
