University System - Board of Regents - Desegregation Program Files
Scope and Contents
This series consists of the University System's record copy of statistical data submitted to the Federal government as (1) a basis for the System's desegregation plan and (2) as documentation of compliance with the plan and with other Federal requirements. The statistics included in these files cover all institutions in the system and System summaries. They concern all aspects of student enrollment, degrees awarded, etc., as well as all aspects of, faculty employment. The statistics are, of course, broken down by race and sex. A portion of the files contains paperwork showing the development of proposals for the desegregation plan. For instance, there is a proposal by the Southern Regional Educational Board accompanied by a review of its merits by a staff member of the Regents. It is the responsibility of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Planning to assimilate, analyze and report external and internal information for planning purposes to provide for policy decisions as well as coordinating the exchange of information with State and Federal agencies.
