Court of Appeals - Clerk of Court - Discretionary and Interlocutory Appeal Case Files
Scope and Contents
This series contains the case files for interlocutory appeals, or those appeals filed during the course of another cause. Points of law are defined in interlocutory appeals and often something is required to be done or observed by one or both parties involved, but the controversy prompting the original cause is not decided. These case files are numbered, but the numbers bear no connection with those of the cases during which the interlocutory appeal is initiated. The numbers do correspond to a chronological order beginning in 1975. The arrangement of the appeals is unusual. Initially the case files are boxed according to the result of the appeal. Those denied are boxed first followed by those appeal cases granted. In November, 1977, this grouping was abandoned and all interlocutory appeals cases were filed together. Throughout the entire time period, however, only one numbering system was employed. Consequently there is no way of finding a specific case number during this earlier period unless one knows the result of the appeal. For regular Court of Appeals case files, see RGSGSERIES 56-2-2.
