Scope and Contents
The Act of March 28, 1947 authorized the State Board of Education to: (1) use a portion of the common school fund to pay the salaries of school bus drivers employed by county boards of education, (2) to administer any appropriations that may be allocated by the Federal Congress, its agencies or bureaus to assist the State of Georgia in the maintenance and operation of pupil transportation, and (3) to administer pupil transportation. The Board was also authorized to establish a minimum salary schedule for all bus drivers, and all minimum standards for all vehicles used to transport school children in the State. These annual statistical reports from each county give the cost of transporting pupils to and from school, the type of buses used and other pertinent data including the following arranged in schedules: (1) name of bus driver; (2) classification of drivers into those who are adults, students, teachers and their sex; (3) name of school to which pupils are transported; (4) make of chassis and body of school bus; (5) year and model of body; (6) manufacturer's seat rating of body; (7) daily mileage; (8) number of days operated yearly; (9) total yearly mileage; (10) original purchase price of chassis and body; (11) depreciation on original purchase price of chassis and body; (12) salary of driver; (13) maintenance and operation of school bus, and (14) total cost.
