Scope and Contents
This series consists of bound volumes with record copies of letters written by the Governor's Executive Secretary to other state, local and federal officials in pursuance of state affairs. The letters record the state's official position on various public issues and is similar to the Governor's Letter Books in RGSGSERIES 1-1-1. The only difference is the executive secretary's acknowledgement that he conducts business only at the request of the governor.
Some of the subjects discussed in this correspondence includes: (1) requisitions for the arrests of persons charged with committing crimes; (2) formation of state militia units; (3) election disputes and vacated offices; (4) payment of indigent soldiers' pensions (5) designation of state bank depositories; (6) issuance of commissions to county officials; (7) establishment of new Georgia militia districts; and (8) requests to be relieved from further liability as guarantor of bonds of public officials.
