University System - University of Georgia - Georgia State Teachers College Bulletins
Scope and Contents
The General Assembly, on October 21, 1891, appropriated money to organize and maintain a State Normal School as a branch of the University for the purpose of training teachers to teach in the public schools in rural areas. The school was not permanently established until 1895. In 1927 the name of the school was changed to that of Georgia State Teachers College. In 1931 the State Government Reorganization of Executives Branches Act abolished the college and merged it with the Department of Education of the University of Georgia. The bulletins in this series contain a list of the faculty and staff members, a brief description of the school, academic requirements and recommendations and a list and brief description and of all courses offered.
