Education - Staff Development Office - Educational Improvement Project Files

 Series
Identifier: 012-27-084

Scope and Contents

This series contains (1) project narrative and statistical reports, (2) financial information, (3) schedules and (4) related correspondence and other records which document one phase of the role of the Federal government in Georgia public education. In particular, this series documents the Federal government involvement in the initiation and development of innovative educational improvement projects under the auspices of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and Titles III and IV, all of which were designed to aid local school systems in improving education. It is significant to note that much emphasis in these files is placed on various projects designed to upgrade or otherwise improve teacher certification and competency. These records were collected by the Special Program Development and Diffusion Unit of the Division of Staff Development, the body charged with the administration of this phase of Federal aid programs in Georgia.

Arrangement Note

The files are grouped by span of fiscal years of considerable length and often overlapping and then in very irregular alphabetical order or absolutely no discernible order whatsoever by project title. At least part of the confusion as to alphabetical order is due to the use of acronyms in project titles. Please check the finding aid carefully for specific projects.
