This series contains record copies of 38 research reports published by the Georgia Forest Research Council during the time period from 1956 to 1977. These reports are very closely related to the research papers found in Series 4. Both reports and papers address subjects of interest to the forest industries in the state and the titles of the items in both series resemble each other to a considerable degree. Such subjects as disease and insect control, improvement of tree planting and breeding procedures and economic problems and factors are addressed. There is a seeming emphasis on statistical studies in the reports; such things as index curves, yield tables and volume tables are fairly common. The chief difference in the two series seems to be that the research reports are often considerably lengthier than are the papers.
