Labor - Correctional Services Division - Pre-Trial Diversion Annual Statistical Reports
Scope and Contents
This series consists of annual summary statistical reports prepared by the Correctional Services Division which show the number of cases handled in pre trial diversion and the ultimate number of jobs interviewed for and filled by region in the Division's attempt to prevent first time offenders from entering the criminal justice system. The photocopied "Correctional Services Activity Report" forms are broken down into four categories: (1) pre release, (2) pre trial, (3) placement and (4) diagnostic. Further division of these categories gives (1) number of interviews and referrals per month and fiscal year; (2) number of offenders screened, enrolled, completed and terminated; (3) number of interviews, jobs developed, number of referrals, placements; and (4) number tested, counseled, etc. Totals are accounted for in each division. It is the responsibility of the Correctional Services Division to develop and supervise inmate and ex offender programs designed to improve the offender's chances of employment, including pre trial diversion. To use these reports effectively, a researcher must be knowledgeable in the significance of the figures in each category given per month and year.
