This series consists of copies of the official minutes of the Board of Corrections, formerly known as the Board of Offender Rehabilitation (1972-1985). The Board of Corrections sets the general policies under which the Department of Corrections operates. The Commissioner of Corrections directs the administrative activities of the board.

In addition to personnel and operations, topics discussed within the minutes include: 1) Commissioner's meeting with a House committee about educational plans for the department; 2) budget recommendations to the Governor; 3) establishment of a citizens' investigative committee for the Georgia State Prison; 4) whether probation should be placed under the judiciary or made an independent agency; and 5) costs and effectiveness of diversion centers.
