Governor - State Photographer - Governor's Photographs and Negatives
Scope and Contents
This series consists of negatives and photographs taken by the Governor's Photographer, a position within the Governor's Office. Subjects include the governor 1) signing legislation; 2) swearing in officials; 3) shown with visiting groups in the Capitol or on the Capitol grounds; 4) delivering messages to the General Assembly; 5) on official trips outside the Capitol; 6) with the First Lady at the Governor's Mansion; and 6) posing with individuals. The series consists mostly of negatives but includes some photographs, contact sheets and proofs.
Photographs are transferred to the Archives when a governor leaves office. The bulk of the series date from the administration of Gov. Joe Frank Harris through Gov. Roy Barnes.
