This series is the printed final report of the Governor's Commission on Judicial Processes. The Commission contracted Ernst and Ernst, an Atlanta consulting firm, to survey the volume and type of legal cases flowing through the state court system, to review the existing records and procedures and to canvass key personnel involved in the day‑to‑day operation of the courts. The results of this survey provide the basis for recommendations for improvements in procedure and in the administrative structure of the Georgia court system. The report contains the summaries of findings, conclusions and recommendations with supportive data illustrated in tables and graphs. Conclusions emphasize the lack of organization in the judicial system which produces wide‑spread inefficiencies and frequent misallocations of resources. To correct the situation, the report details the need for centralized responsibility and decision‑making in the judicial system, and urges establishment of a centralized judicial agency. Such an agency might, for example, direct the standardization of court records and procedures and guide the installation of computer systems. Appendices include an outline of the Georgia judicial system, jurisdiction of courts surveyed, information on Georgia attorneys and sample statistical reports.
