This series consists of the Georgia State Soil and Water Conservation Committee District Organization Files. Material in this series is contained in manila folders and includes the following data consistently given: petitions and applications to organize soil and water conservation districts, supervisors' certificates of appointment, records of public hearings on and results of referendums on the issue of establishing soil and water conservation districts, and other documents relating to organization and procedural problems in counties encompassed by soil and water districts. The series also includes district annual reports, programs, and work plans, lists of membership on county subcommittees, general correspondence, memos of understanding between the Georgia districts and the United States Department of Agriculture, and guidelines for including counties in respective districts. Files on district Supervisors elected or appointed prior to 1949 and various soil surveys of Georgia counties published by the United States Department of Agriculture are also included in the series.
