Legislature - House and Senate - Senate Journals
Scope and Contents
This series consists of the daily record of proceedings of the Georgia Senate. Kept by the Clerk of the Senate, the journals have entered into them the appointments and actions of committees, introduction of bills and resolutions, motions, votes, etc. in order of their occurrence. Unlike bound journals, these records generally consist of unbound oversized legal paper onto which the proceedings have either been typed and/or had other documents attached (generally with staples).

Arrangement Note
The listing that follows can prove to be somewhat difficult for the earlier years. The reason for what appears to be double entry for some years is the fact that the current inventory is made up of several older inventories. Until such time as positive identification and location of these journals in their respective shelving addresses is made, the current inventory is to be used. Also, many of these earlier journals have not been properly processed and inventoried and a majority still remain wrapped up in the packaging paper that first brought them to the Archives. Every effort has been made to arrange the years in a true chronological sequence so that there are no gaps. Some years are missing.
