This series contains the records compiled by Senator Pierre Howard in the proceedings initiated by the Senate Judiciary Committee against Senator Roscoe Emory Dean, Jr. for "disorderly behavior, misconduct and acts not conducive to the interest and prosperity of the state." Included are: Senate Resolution 245 censuring Senator Dean; a copy of the 1973 indictment by the Fulton County Grand Jury citing Dean on 14 counts of "theft by taking"; a complete transcript of the 1975 jury trial of Dean in the Fulton County Superior Court before Honorable Charles A. Wofford (237 pp.); a large collection of exhibits introduced in the course of the trial including copies of travel vouchers, credit card charges, telephone, bills, committee minutes and rosters, embarkation-disembarkation cards from foreign ports and canceled checks; a copy of the U.S. House of Representatives proceedings against Representative Adam Clayton Powell of New York as found in U.S. Supreme Court Records of 1969; copies of the 1973 Georgia General Assembly compensation laws as contained in the Georgia Code; a Senate expense voucher for Senator Dean covering eight days of committee work during the 1974 session and travel expenses; and a tally sheet of expenses incurred by Senator Dean from June 1973 through December 1974. The records are arranged as listed above. The exhibits mentioned in Item (4) above are arranged by count as contained in the indictment.
