Scope and Contents
This series contains unbound supplementary estate records of Wilkes County. The types of records include: (1) inventories, (2) warrants of appraisements, (3) lists of notes, (4) lists of receipts, (5) sale accounts, (6) returns, (7) oaths (8) judgments, (9) affidavits, (10) guardian bonds, (11) agreements, (12) taxes, (13) debts, (14) promissory notes, (15) contracts, (16) administrator's bonds, (17) statements, (18) dowers, (19) sales of perishable property, (20) equities, and (21) divisions of property. The term "supplementary" in this case means that these particular estate records were found at a different time and in another section of the courthouse. They have the same value and significance as the estate records of Series 2 of this record group, but the two have not been interfiled. Although most cases have just annual estate returns and appraisements, no document is consistently found. Wills are filed separately in Series 2.
