Mental Health - Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital - Superintendent's Subject Files
Scope and Contents
This series contains (1) correspondence from official and private sources and the superintendent's responses thereto, (2) memorandums and other statements documenting policies and decisions not necessarily in the official minutes, (3) papers related to the therapeutic, clinical training and research interests of the institution, (4) papers reflecting the superintendent's actions on medical, administrative and personnel services, (5) documents reflecting manpower and training actions and community discussions, (6) annual reports, (7) plans and specifications for the new mental health hospital constructed on the site of the former Battey State Hospital and (8) supporting papers. Although some of these records actually predate the Georgia government reorganization of 1972, the bulk of the records of the Superintendent of Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital's predecessor, the Superintendent of Battey State Hospital, may be found in Record Group 26, Department of Public Health, Sub-Group 9, Series 74.
