Community Services - Milledgeville Youth Development Center - Subject Files
Scope and Contents
This continuation of the Director's Subject Files of the Milledgeville Youth Development Center contains budget data, reports, studies, memorandums and correspondence. These papers primarily treat the overall supervision of the Youth Development Center, a public institution for delinquent children. Included are correspondence and reports of professional associations involved with the problems of child welfare and juvenile delinquency, as well as correspondence with individuals, state and federal agencies and other state institutions. Other papers deal with the education, vocational training, health and social behavior of the inmates. Most of these files were created during the period between the governmental reorganization of 1972 and 1975 when the Youth Development Centers were under the Division of Community Services. For files predating 1972, see Record Group 24, Sub-Group 11, Series 37. For post-1975 records, see Record Group 268, The Division of Youth Services.
