Natural Resources - Planning and Research - Director's Subject Files
Scope and Contents
This series contains: (1) correspondence, (2) memorandums, (3) reports, (4) news releases, (5) copies of federal and state legislation, (6) maps, (7) project studies, and (8) related papers. These records document the office director's role in providing planning assistance and policy coordination for the Department. Many of these files are duplicated in the records of the Commissioner and in the grant files of the Planning and Research Office. Some of the folder labels in this series are rather obscure in that they list various specific restoration, preservation or research projects undertaken by the Department. It is interesting to note, however, that the duties of the Director include much time and effort devoted to internal departmental planning involving personnel problems and information service. There are, for example, extensive reading files maintained during some time periods for correspondence with various state officials including the Governor.
