Scope and Contents

This series consists of the bound copies of records created by the Superintendent of the Carshop for the time and work performed by the mechanics of the Western & Atlantic Railroad. For each month each worker was assigned a page on which was listed the: (1) days of the month, (2) whether or not a full day's work was performed, (3) upon what task each day's labor was performed, and (4) upon which engine worked. At the bottom of the column the number of days worked was totaled along with the rate and amount of pay due. The number of mechanics working averaged 35 to 45 per month.
