This series contains correspondence, attendance sheets, speeches, letters to the editors of newspapers and other publications, copies of articles appearing in same, committee reports, by-laws of committees, financial statements, personnel information and other records documenting the work of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authorityâ€™s Board of Directors. This board establishes policy guidelines for the day-to-day operation of the current transportation system and for the designing and construction of proposed transit lines and routes as well.

Arrangement Note

There is no chronological arrangement, and virtually every file covers a different span of years. The files are grouped alphabetically by general subject area or type of record and arranged then alphabetically by file folder label. There are, however, exceptions to even this general plan. There are files, for example, which are labeled simply Board of Directors. Furthermore, there is a general correspondence file usually covering a much greater time span than any of the regular files and placed at the end of each increment.
