Scope and Contents
These records were collected by David Weaver Bridges (6 Dec 1894 - 28 Dec 1957) who served as a Sergeant First Class in the Georgia National Guard, Field Hospital No. 123. The collection includes a unit history, scrapbook, and several large photographs of the unit and locations where they were sent.
The unit was stationed at the Mexican border in 1916-1917, then at Camp Wheeler for part of 1918. On October 25, 1918 the unit departed the US for France. After the end of the war, the unit returned from the port of St Nazaire, France to the US in June 1919 aboard the Santa Teresa.

Biographical / Historical
David Weaver Bridges (6 Dec 1894 - 28 Dec 1957) served as a Sergeant First Class in the Georgia National Guard, Field Hospital No. 123. His parents were James O. Bridges and Emma J. Bridges. He married Lucille Mars in July of 1921. While he lived briefly in Atlanta and Columbus during the 1920s, he spent most of his life in Athens, Clark County, Georgia. He died December 28, 1957 and is buried in Oconee Hill Cemetery in Clarke County, Georgia.
